Case Report: The Extended Neurovascular Island Flap in Thumb Reconstruction

Abstract

Two cases of skin-avulsion of the right thumb are described. Both were reconstructed by a skin flap and in one with an iliac bone graft.

In both cases an extended neurovascular flap was inserted taken from the ulnar side of the middle finger giving the reconstructed thumb increased vascularity and a good sensibility based on the median nerve.
