Skin Viability Studies in Vitro

Abstract

During the last one hundred years numerous methods for skin viability studies have been published. They range from a clinical evaluation by successful grafting through histological techniques to in vitro studies of cell cultures. The aim is to find methods to predict viability of skin during bank procedures. Previous reviews are mentioned and examples of viability studies are given concluding that glucose uptake and respiration studies are the current methods of choice for skin procurement viability studies.
