Focus Score in Sialolithiasis

Introduction

Pages 87-89 | Received 24 Jul 1987, Published online: 12 Jul 2009

Abstract

Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune exocrinopathy characterized by lymphoplas-macytoid infiltration of the glandular target tissue (1). Inflammatory cell focus score values (2) exceeding 1 in biopsies from salivary glands have a close correlation with primary and secondary SS and give a good distinction between patients with SS and healthy controls (2-5). However, the differential value of focus scores exceeding 1 against sialolithiasis is not known, and was therefore studied.
