Abstract
Although the small joints are the most frequently affected by rheumatoid arthritis (RA), involvement of the larger joints is not uncommon. The involvement of the hip joints is an important cause of morbidity in RA, as many of these patients will require hip arthroplasty. Duthie & Harris (1) studied 84 patients with seropositive RA and noted radiographic changes of the hips in 40% of them.
