Abstract

The results of a study to determine the time and temperature conditions necessary to melt standard injection syringes are presented. The polypropylene syringes are melted to form a solid block of material encapsulating the attached stainless steel hypodermic needles, making them appropriate for further processing into other products. The desired result was obtained after two hours at 200°C and can be replicated easily in a location such as a rural clinic in a developing nation.
