The Handikappinstitutet and services to the handicapped in Sweden

Abstract

Services and aids for the handicapped are controlled by the local health authorities in Sweden and supervised by special mixed boards of politicians and experts. The organisation of the system is described in this paper, in addition to the role and functions of the Handkappinstitut. This is a central co-ordinating body for research development, testing and supplying information within the area of rehabilitation.
