Information handling in the hospital: a flexible mini computer approach

Abstract

This paper describes the development of a computer-based system to provide an easy-to-use information retrieval facility in the hospital environment. The original programmes were written for a preventative maintenance system. It was subsequently adapted for use with patient information, providing local ‘hands-on’ access for non-specialised users and total flexibility in the definition of combined search keys.
