Abstract

A voice-operated response unit was developed using existing microprocessing technology to enable the vocal recording of answers to a psychological test–the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), which cannot be completed in standard paper-and-pencil format by persons with impaired hand function. Components, cost and operation of the system are described, and data concerning reliability are presented. Applications for such a system are discussed, as are extensions of its utility to other psychological tests.
