Abstract

A dial calipers for the precise measurement of analogue data on strip-chart recorders is described. The calipers can be obtained at low cost, and necessary modifications can be made quickly by a competent machinist. This instrument is accurate to within ±0.05 mm, and reproducible measurements can be made rapidly and without undue eye strain. A laboratory that cannot afford digital or analogue electronic mensuration equipment should find this instrument useful.
