Abstract

This paper describes how a small microprocessor-based instrument that can be worn on a belt can be used to record patterns of activity. A simple algorithm is employed to optimize the use of memory for storing results. The instrument has many applications, including the logging of the number of steps taken by patients in each minute over a period of up to two weeks.
