Abstract
A new electrophoretically silent, unstable hemoglobin was discovered in a Japanese family. Isolation of the abnormal chain and chemical analyses demonstrated a previously unreported amino acid substitution, α59[E8] Glycine → Valine. The new variant has been named Hb Tottori.
