Abstract
In continuing our effort to provide concise and comprehensive information on human hemoglobin variants, we are instituting a new section in HEMOGLOBIN entitled Brief Reports of Rare Human Hemoglobin Variants. We will include exclusively in this section articles describing the subsequent detection of rare hemoglobin variants which have been reported at least twice before. The articles will provide the ethnic origin of the propositus, geographical location, methodology used for identification and quantitation of the variant, and data such as oxygen affinity, stability, and others. Hematological and/or clinical information, if it differs from that previously published, must be included. Each Brief Report will be limited to only two pages, single spaced, and may include one figure or one table. The review of these contributions will follow the same editorial polices as applied to all other types of manuscripts.
