Abstract

Paired tonal pulses of 10 msec, each pulse being spaced from the second by intervals ranging from 10 to 80 msec, were dichotically delivered either with the right or with the left ear leading in time. The frequency of the tonal pulses was 5000 cps. Subjects under examination had to judge the side of the leading pulse. The results show that mistakes occured only when, in right handed subjects, the right ear was leading, whereas the contrary happens in left handed subjects. The hypothesis is drawn that time correlation processes for auditory pulses involve centres having an asymmetrical situation along auditory pathways.
