New Ways in Rehabilitation of A Deaf Child

Pages 135-137 | Published online: 07 Jul 2009

Abstract

A primary objective in the rehabilitation of a deaf child is to release his mind from the prison of deafness. Once his mind is activated it is possible to utilize his hidden potentialities and develop his orientation and self reliance in the world of reality. In order to achieve this objective, the parents must realize that the key of his prison is the awakening of his brain. This must be done early in his preschool age by a maximum utilization of his residual hearing supported by other senses and by putting into action the child's motor and intellectual operations. If parents in cooperation with teachers suceed in arousing in their child a desire to talk and understand they have won an important victory. The road is open for an effective rehabilitation!
