Technique Et Appareillage Pour Le Traitement Radio-Acoustique De La Surdité

Pages 169-171 | Published online: 07 Jul 2009

Abstract

The radioacoustic treatment consists in engaging the neurosensorial auditory structures with modulated and supermodulated radio waves at acoustic frequency, so that, by effect of the rectification innate in the cochlea, the modulant becomes evident. The apparatus consists in its essential parts of an oscillator at acoustic frequency, that through a potentiometer, puts into action the modulation amplifier which modulates an oscillator at radiofrequency; on a parallel line is set an oscilloscope on cathodic rays that allows to control the corrent administered. This application is performed by means of two bras electrodes, hemispherical in shape, 12 mm in diameter, that are laid on the auditory meatuses by means of a bow and through two pads of gauze. The duration of the applications varies from subject to subject in daily sittings, eventually repeated after a suitable interval. Audiometric and watch checkings are caried out every 6 to 9 sittings and the treatment is continued as long as progress in the improvement is noted. The patient is confortably seated in a phonoisolated cabin, so that no other stimuli than the radioacoustic ones can reach his ears.
