Abstract

Twenty-four patients with refractory Stage IV breast cancer were teated with platinol (100 mg/m2 i.v. Day 1) and 5-fluorouracil (1000 mg/m2 as a continuous infusion over 24 h daily for 5 days). Objective responses occurred in 12 of 24patients (50%). The median duration of response was 4.9 months. Platinol and 5-fluorouracil in combination are active agents in patients with refractory breast cancer, and clinical trials are warranted in previously untreated patients.
