Abstract

>The Londoner d˙ the Little Man who crowded the streets, the trains, busses and trams. He was always hard up but as optimistic as Mr. Micawberd˙ He was hard-working, cheerful and expected help from nobody, which was lucky, for he certainly did not get any. Shakespeare has said, Security is mortals' chiefest enemy. If this is true, how happy was the pre-1914 Londoner, for security to him was unknown.<.
