Future Trends for Experimental Surgery in Laboratory Animal Science

Abstract

Experimental surgery has been an important component in the development of laboratory animal medicine and science. Surgically altered animal models trace back to the days when investigators excised organs in order to study their function. Removal of the mouse thymus to study immune function is but one early example.
