Computer-administered Behavior Therapies

Pages 267-274 | Published online: 11 Jul 2009

Abstract

Behavioral psychotherapies have demonstrated effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety disorders, sexual dysfunctions, paraphilias, obesity and some mood disorders. The prevalence of these disorders is high and there are not enough trained behavior therapists to provide treatment. Cost of effective treatment is also beyond the means of many. Computer-administered behavior therapies have shown promise but little propagation. Problems with development and dissemination of the computer-administered behavior therapy programs are discussed.
