Pages 83-93 | Published online: 11 Jul 2009

Abstract

Psychiatric rehabilitation is reaching the point of being recognized as a specialism within psychology, with the implication that clinical psychologists who work in this field have special knowledge and skills. This paper explores the many facets to the role of the rehabilitation psychologist, both in theory and in practice. It is concluded that in long-term care clinical psychologists cannot function effectively without being full members of the multi-disciplinary team.
