Community care of the frail elderly in the United Kingdom

Abstract

This paper has as its focus of concern the quality of health and social welfare provision to old, frail people living in the community. It does not discuss the needs of the young elderly people, nor of those who live in institutions, whether in hospital or in a home. Nor does it address issues relating to other vital services for elderly people, such as housing, social security and transport, the adequacy of which are critical to successful policies of community care.
