Abstract
Many physiotherapeutic models of management are widely accepted on the basis of empirical observations. General principles of treatment are then incorporated into therapists′ personal models. In order to encourage physiotherapists to re-evaluate their individual approach, I have critically analysed my individual approach to the treatment of hearing-impaired infants who present with gross motor delays. The analysis includes an examination of the theoretical basis as well as assumptions underlying treatment. The new management model that evolved as a result of this analysis is then presented.
