A care Management Project for young Adults with Dual Diagnoses of Severe Mental Illness and Substance Abuse: A Service for People with Dual Diagnoses

Abstract

Young adults with dual diagnoses of substance misuse and mental illness present a particular challenge for psychiatric services. A brief exploration of their difficulties is given, followed by a description of a new multi-agency and professional service response. Emphasis is directed to problematic interactions of client characteristics and existing services provision which need to be overcome.
