Social networks in a cluster of three group homes for the mentally ill

Abstract

This paper extends the work on patients' social networks and the success of group homes. The social networks of a group of long-stay patients were investigated in terms of the structure of the networks and the quality of the network relationships. Changes in the networks after discharge to the community were investigated in a cluster of three group homes, the data showing changes within households and between households a year after discharge. The results are discussed and suggestions for future research outlined.
