Issues in the Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials

Pages 23-44 | Published online: 28 Sep 2008

Abstract

With increases in knowledge about the design and conduct of clinical trials have come a host of concerns and potential problems. This review discusses a number of current issues pertinent to clinical trial research and management. Through a representative sampling of these issues, it becomes apparent that even though clinical trials, especially the randomized type, are the exemplar of medical research, they may not, as yet, be a perfected method.
