Considerations in Computerizing a Project Management System

Pages 37-50 | Published online: 28 Sep 2008

Abstract

Having successfully implemented a fully developed administrative project control system, the next level of enhancement is computerization of the project management process in order to handle larger amounts of data, process the information faster, and provide timely reports and graphics. In selecting a software package, the most important issue is its ability to meet all the objectives of the control system already in force. The facets of a software to be examined are: inputting ease, processing sophistication, and quality of outputted reports and multicolor graphics. For those organizations that are either flexible or have modest demands from the management software, a microcomputer may be the appropriate choice.
