Abstract

The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate a combined antihypertensive drug regimen including angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (captopril) in the treatment of hypertension in pregnancy.

The combined use of captopril in late pregnancy produced a favorable therapeutic response to severe hypertension in pregnancy which was resistant to the treatment with other antihypertensive agents. There were no significant maternal, fetal and neonatal side-effects attributable to captopril when used in late pregnancy.
