Abstract
Calcium biochemistry was studied in 18 African females who had suffered generalized seizures due to untreated eclampsia. When compared to a matched control group the plasma concentration of ionic calcium was significantly reduced (p=0.0125). No statistical difference existed between the groups when plasma concentrations of total calcium, parathyroid hormone, phosphates, albumen or magnesium were compared.
