Abstract
To the Editor
Thank you for the opportunity to reply to Dr. Goodlin's letter, which as always is a scholarly reminder of an inadequately addressed area.
As he reminds us, relief of vasoconstriction by physical rest allows some volume expansion to occur, although somewhat different from active intravenous administration of volume-expanding solutions, and without the concomitant risks of the latter therapeutic maneuver, should volume/pressure changes become mismatched, as may happen clinically.
