Abstract
A polyurethane adhesive coating containing disodium monofluorophosphate (Epoxylite 9070, Lee Pharmaceuticals) was compared with acidulated sodium fluoride gels (Luride, The Kendal Company; and Fluoro-dent, Den-Tal-Ez Mfg. Co.). It was found that retention of fluoride as well as resistance to acid etching was significantly greater in teeth treated with the polyurethane system than with the topical gel. Initial fluoride uptake by enamel was similar after coating with either the fluoride-releasing urethane or the topical gel.
