Abstract

Two ternary complexes [Cu(NCS)2(ql)2] (ql = quinoline) (1) and [Zn(NCS)2(ql)2] (2) from SCN and quinoline were synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, elemental analysis and X-ray crystallography. For two complexes, metal atom occupies a four-coordinated distorted tetrahedral environment bound to N atoms from two NCS and two quinoline ligands. The molecule is held together with its neighboring ones via π−π stacking interactions to form a 1D structure. The luminescent properties of the complexes 12 at room temperature were investigated.
