Pages 329-341 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Abstract

This paper reviews the potential problems of both private and publicly funded methadone maintenance programs, focusing on competition, vagueness of regulations, and lax enforcement of regulations. As a solution it proposes specific and detailed control of such programs which would guarantee that a given level of services would be offered at all types of methadone programs.
