An Introduction to Drug Abuse Prevention Intervention Research: Methodological Issues

Pages 1631-1636 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Abstract

Most questions related to the effectiveness of drug use prevention interventions center on research design and methodology as well as on the inconsistencies among study findings. This chapter introduces the monograph which focuses on instrumentation, control/comparison groups, intervention specificity, outcome variables, replication issues, and the measurement of long-term effects. In other words, the monograph focuses on methodology not on reviewing drug use prevention effectiveness research.
