Trends and Patterns of Methamphetamine Abuse in the Republic of Korea

Abstract

Methamphetamine is being used in every part of Korea. Males constitute the majority of methamphetamine users. About half of the arrestees are unemployed. Most users began using methamphetamine because of myths and false information. Ninety-seven percent used intravenous injection method almost exclusively. Ninety-three percent used methamphetamine with peers, lovers, or wives. Concentrated and successive drug investigations both reduced the total methamphetamine supply and caused a rapid rise in its consumer price.
