Pages 1865-1870 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Abstract

Inhalant use is a worldwide problem producing significant morbidity and mortality with the brain being the chief target organ. Because clinically detectable damage to this organ is largely irreversible, research should be directed towards identification of risk factors for inhalant use in order to formulate specific preventive strategies which should be rigorously evaluated. Thė effects of inhalants upon the unborn and newly born infant is an area of concern and investigation.
