Objective: To detect T cell apoptosis in reduced peripheral lymphocyte counts in patients having major operations. Design: Prospective study. Setting: University hospital, Japan. Subjects: 11 patients having oesophagectomy and 5 having laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Interventions
