Abstract
The major focus of ALPAC was on the role of nutrition, in particular of antioxidative micro-nutrients, in the etiology of cardiovascular disease and cancer discussed by some of the world's leading scientists. Concurrently, the International Conference on Quality and Safety Aspects of Food and Nutrition in Europe (QSFNE) was held, which concentrated on the provision of well-balanced, healthy and non-contaminated food to the consumer. In the following report, only the ALPAC meeting will be considered.
