Abstract

Portal vein thrombosis is a rare and potentially lethal complication of laparoscopic colectomy. In this paper, we present a case of portal vein thrombosis and pulmonary artery thromboembolism on the 11th day after laparoscopic colectomy without an evident congenital thrombotic disorder. Laparoscopic surgeons and their patients should be aware of such events, because the patients are usually discharged before the symptoms begin.
