Laparoscopic colonic surgery: The unseen lesion

, &
Pages 171-172 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Summary

Pre-operative contrast radiology should be used to confirm the location of colonoscopically diagnosed lesions due to the inability to directly palpate the colon during laparoscopic assisted colectomies. If the lesion is small, then injection of India ink should be used to facilitate localization at laparoscopy.
