Abstract

Although the frequency of postoperative bleeding, haematoma and incisional hernia formation is relatively low at trocar sites of laparoscopic interventions, these complications can lengthen hospital stay, cause diagnostic difficulties or might even be life-threatening. To prevent these situations a new reusable device was used in 146 cases by which complete and reliable closure of all layers of trocar site was performed under direct visual control. There were three cases of inferior epigastric artery bleeding during pelviscopy which were quickly controlled using the instrument. After 2–6 months follow up, there were no hernias or other complications observed. We recommend this device highly.
