Summary

Objective: To report on our experience of laparoscopic ureterolithotomy. Patients and methods: Since June 1993,10 patients with large ureteral calculi have undergone laparoscopic ureterolithotomy at the Department of Urology of the Charite Hospital, Medical School of the Humboldt University, Berlin. Results. Of the 10 procedures, eight were successfully completed by means of laparoscopy. Two procedures were converted to open surgical ureterolithotomy. The mean operative time was 100 min. The post-operative stay in hospital was 1–4 days. Conclusions. Laparoscopic ureterolithotomy involves minimal post-operative discomfort, short hospital stay and rapid convalescence.
