A.A.S.E. — What is it? and Where is it Going?

Pages 55-56 | Published online: 10 Jul 2009

Abstract

The Australian Association of Special Education was formed in 1975 as a federation of State and Territory groups interested in the provision and implementation of education programs to children with special needs. Since its inception, the Association has grown steadily in strength, although the way has not always been smooth. In recent times, there has been a steady growth in membership. Communication and cohesion amongst the councillors who form the federal body of the Association has also increased. In the last five years A.A.S.E. has consolidated its national identity, and is now providing a forum for Australia-wide discussion and exchange of ideas amongst persons interested in special education from all parts of the country.
