The Development of a Self-Directed and Peerbased Clinical Training Programme

Abstract

A reflective learning approach for clinical training with final year students is decsribed. The training programme aims to promote the development of independent and reflective practitioners. The theories and ideas that have influenced the structure of the programme are described and an outline of the programme is provided. The views of students who have participated in the process are discussed. Most students were positive about their experiences, but some problems were reported. Suggestions for improving the supervisory process are considered.
