Language Skills of Cleft Palate Children: a Review

Pages 37-44 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Abstract

Recently, various studies (Moll, 1968; Morris, 1962; Philips, 1969; Smith, 1965, 1968, 1968; Spriestersbach, 1958), have investigated the language skills of cleft palate children. There is general agreement that children with cleft palate are delayed in language development. Furthermore, it has been reported that in cleft palate children there is a relationship between articulation skills and expressive language development (Morris, 1962; Spriestersbach, 1958).
