Pages 109-118 | Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Summary

An extraneous speech behavior, a prevocalization (PV), was analyzed spectrographically and phonetically in 14 cerebral palsied subjects. Seventy-one % of these subjects demonstrated PV usage. Frequency of PV occurrence and PV duration in msec, were not related. Phonetic analysis of PVs and initial word stop consonants implicated temporal inco-ordination in manner of articulation with generally intact control over place of articulation.
