Abstract
The acid proteinase activity in human and steer brain areas has been determined. Grey matter contains more acid proteinase activity than white matter. A major portion of the activity resides in the soluble fraction of the cell. The Mn++-stimulated aminopeptidase activity and dipeptidase activity in human astrocytoma tissue homogenates are higher than those of normal adjacent cerebral tissue. The peptidase activity of astrocytoma tissue is more susceptible to inactivation by dialysis than is that of normal tissue.
