Pages 489-497 | Received 07 Mar 1966, Published online: 27 Sep 2008

Abstract

1. – The vagal escape time, during stimulation of the peripheral end of vagus nerve, was measured in normal and in the serpasil treated rabbits narcotized with nembutal in-situ and in the heart-vagus preparation.

2. – The vagal escape time is short and of nodal type in normal rabbits.

3. – The vagal escape is of sinusal type and lasts longer in serpasil treated rabbits.

4. – In the isolated heart-vagus preparation treated or untreated with serpasil, the escape is of sinusal or nodal type and the time elapsed is longer than that in the untreated preparation.
