Abstract
The chronotropic response of rat atria to β adrenergic stimulation required higher concentrations of agonist in the presence of adenosine. This anti β-adrenergic effect could attenuate the tachycardia induced by the increased sympathetic tone during cardiac ischemia. The sensitivity to a adrenergic stimulation did not change in the presence of adenosine.
