The concept of continuity of care in European General Practice

Pages 118-119 | Published online: 11 Jul 2009

Abstract

In his stimulating address to WONCA 2000,1 Fleming reexamines the concept of continuity and immediately reminds us that definition remains a problem.2 He then adopts the traditional GP definition, that continuity is about one patient seeing the same doctor, and proceeds to demonstrate that this is becoming less common and less relevant and should be replaced by continuity with the primary care team (at least in the British context).
