EURACT: EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF TEACHERS IN GENERAL PRACTICE AND FAMILY MEDICINE

The 20th International EURACT Bled course (20–24 September 2011)

Under the patronage of the European Academy of Teachers in GP/FP (EURACT), the Slovene Family Medicine Society, including the Department of Family Practice, University of Ljubljana, the Department of Family Practice, University of Maribor, the Institute of Family Medicine and the OZG Primary Health Care Center Bled, organize the 19th International EURACT Bled Course.

The course will be held in Bled, Slovenia from 20–24 September 2011. The theme of this course is ‘Learning and teaching about professionalism in general practice/family medicine’. This course is especially interesting to trainers and teachers in family medicine/general practice, involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education. We hope that experienced senior teachers as well as juniors at the beginning of their educational careers will attend this course.

At the end of the course the participants will:

  • Know what professionalism in practicing and teaching family medicine is

  • Understand the impact of professionalism on education and practice

  • Know how to follow the principles of professional conduct in practicing and teaching family medicine

  • Value the principles of professional conduct

  • Appreciate the importance of professionalism in everyday practice and teaching

The keynote sessions will be chaired by Jaime Correia de Sousa (Portugal), Yonah Yaphe (Israel, Portugal), Igor Švab, Janko Kersnik (Slovenia).

During the course, keynote presentations, group work, role-play, fieldwork and discussions will be held.

Country reports on research in GP/FP are welcome. A selected number of reports will be allocated to be presented to the audience during the Saturday morning plenary session. Abstracts should be sent to [email protected] by 15 July 2011. Course directors will evaluate the contributions and will notify you on the acceptance of the presentation by the 31 August 2011. Contributions will be assigned as oral or poster presentations.

During conference: trekking, dancing lessons, Bled sightseeing, vine inspection, water polo game, dancing lessons, traditional water polo game between the Slovene participants and colleagues from abroad and farewell dinner will take place. During the fieldwork, you will have the opportunity to visit local family doctors and practices as well local primary health care centre in Bled.

The course will be held in English, located in Bled, Slovenia. Bled is a tourist resort in the Northwest of Slovenia on the border to Italy and Austria and is easily accessible by car, train or plane. The nearest airport Ljubljana is only 25 km away. The course fee is set at €300 (VAT included) and will include organisation of the course, course attendance, fieldwork, refreshments during the brakes, lunch during lunch brakes from Tuesday to Friday and the participation in exciting social events including farewell dinner. EURACT members pay a reduced fee of €250 (VAT included), members of VdGM group pay €120 (VAT included).
